FAQ

Is shrimp cactus the same plant as Christmas cactus?

The ASPCA keeps them on different entries. This page is Schlumbergera russelliana. The Christmas cactus entry is Schlumbergera bridgesii and is Christmas cactus. Both entries are non-toxic. NC State titles its care page Schlumbergera russelliana, calls that plant Christmas cactus, and lists Schlumbergera bridgesii as a previous name. That care wording is not a second grade. Check the scientific name on the tag.

Does the shrimp cactus entry name a toxic principle?

No toxic-principles field and no clinical-signs field are on the entry. The non-toxicity line reads "Non-Toxic to Dogs, Non-Toxic to Cats, Non-Toxic to Horses". Holiday Toxins discusses Christmas cactus, not this entry, and is not used to add signs here.
