No accounts, no email lists. We keep the plant photos you consent to share (to make identification better), a coarse anonymous fingerprint for the free-photo quota, and standard analytics. Ads, when they arrive, will use third-party cookies — you can opt out below. Want your photos deleted? One email: hello@verdapaw.com.
When you tick the consent box on the identify page, you agree to this: the photo you submit is stored on our infrastructure, together with the model's identification candidates and any correction you make, and may be used to evaluate and improve plant identification — including building evaluation sets and training or fine-tuning identification models. Photos are not published, not sold, and not shared with third parties except the vision API provider that processes the image to identify it (currently OpenAI), which handles it under its own API data terms.
Don't include people, faces, or anything private in the frame — the photo only needs the plant. If something private slips in, ask us to delete it.
Email hello@verdapaw.com from any address, tell us roughly when you submitted the photo(s), and we'll delete the stored images and identification records. No account needed, no form, no questions.
Verdapaw plans to show advertising served by a third-party ad network (such as Raptive or Mediavine). When ads go live, the ad partner will set third-party cookies and similar identifiers to measure and personalize ads, under their own privacy policies. We will surface any consent controls the network requires. This section exists so that nothing about ad cookies is a surprise later.
Under California law, the use of third-party advertising cookies can qualify as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. California residents have the right to opt out. Until an ad network is live there is nothing to opt out of; once ads launch, a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link will appear in the site footer and any opt-out you make there will be honored. You can also exercise CCPA rights (access, deletion, opt-out) any time by emailing hello@verdapaw.com. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Photos and identification records are stored with our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Vercel) in the United States. Retention: until you ask for deletion, or until we no longer need them for the purposes above.
Material changes will be dated at the top of this page. Questions or requests: hello@verdapaw.com.
