Is poinsettia toxic to cats?

Poinsettia is only mildly toxic to cats (S1 Caution): its milky sap can cause drooling, vomiting, and skin irritation, but its reputation as a deadly plant is greatly exaggerated — signs are usually self-limiting.

Move the plant out of nibbling range and wipe any sap off your cat's skin or mouth area. Offer fresh water. Signs usually pass on their own — per Pet Poison Helpline, medical treatment is rarely necessary.
